Why is Little Stars so special?
At Little Stars Day Nursery we believe we have something unique to offer your child. Firstly, Little Stars is owned and run by two qualified teachers having BA Honours degrees with Qualified Teacher Status and Early Years Professional Status. We are both specialists in Physical Education and received our training at the University of Warwick. We are confident that with these qualifications and teaching experience we can give your child the best possible opportunities at the start of their education. We also believe at Little Stars that in addition to you as parents, your child’s first educators play an equally important role in fostering an early love of learning. Our team at Little Stars have been carefully selected. They share a common quality; respect for your child’s desire to learn and a total commitment to the fulfilment of his or her needs.
Who we provide care for?
We are a private day nursery registered by Ofsted providing educationally based care for children aged 3 months – 8 years. Each child is treated as an individual and his/her needs met accordingly. Through a friendly welcoming atmosphere we provide a personal service for you and your child.
What’s special?
At Little Stars nutrition is very important to us, we provide the children with a morning and afternoon snack which between them alway consist of at least 3 pieces of fruit or vegetables. We are lucky to have our own chef who cooks for the children at nursery each day. We pride ourselves in the fresh, nutricious and healthy food we provide. We have a three week rolling menu so there is always something different to challenge the childrens taste buds. We vary our menus dependant on seasons and we cram our meals full with as many vegetables as possible - but we do hide these well so little eyes do not always know how much veg they are actually eating. A cooked nursery lunch can be provided for an additional cost of just £2.50 per day.
Our Organic kitchen garden is where children grow vegetables to eat at lunch. So far this year we have grown apples, cherries, sweet corn, spinach, chard, garlic, sweet peas, potatoes, carrots, pumpkins, little gem lettuce, and beet root, The children learn all about how growing the vegetables and fruit. They are genuinely surprised to pull a patch of green and see a carrot at the end of it, in less than two hours it is on their plate for dinner. The children also spend time learning why fruit and vegetables are so important in a healthy diet.
The Sonic Phonic room contains our own library that has over 500 books for you to take home and read with your child. We purchase new books every month so that there is always a new book to explore together. Parents have found this resource extremely useful and the children love the library that they use during the day.
We are very lucky to have our own computer room which enables the children to learn using technology. The children have access to five computers which helps them develop important mouse skills, Learn about foreign places and extend their knowledge and understanding of the world.
Being active is an integral part of being healthy. In children this is even more important as they are developing interests and habits that will stay with them for life. At Little Stars we have the expertise and equipment to ensure your child is stimulated through play and given the opportunity to enrich their lives with exciting activities such as skiing, trampolining, gymnastics, swimming and tennis. As the children are with their friends they progress much more quickly as they gain confidence from each other feeling safe and secure.
The nursery has four large outdoor play areas that enable children to choose whether they would like to learn inside or outside. They are all distinctly different to enable learning from all areas of the curriculum. Over the course of the day 50% of the children’s time will be spent outside learning and playing together. Our philosophy is that everything we do inside can be done outside.
