ABOUT US

working with you to create the stars of the future

richard-little-stars

Having spent over 17 years in Education I feel very privileged to be the Director of Little Stars Nursery. On a day to day basis the children amaze and astound me with their personalities and achievements.

We also work in partnership with Ocean Learning Academy, TEACH Poole and Baden Powell Junior School to develop our successful wrap around care too. It’s amazing from our point of view to watch a child’s journey from 3 months to 4 years old knowing we have played a part in their development.

During these years we also develop close relationships with parents too, many of whom have become friends as a result of their child attending the nursery or wrap around care.

If you are a prospective parent please feel free to come and have a look around and have a chat with the team, we are happy to show you around and answer any questions you may have. In the meantime if you’d like to see some photos of the nursery please visit our Gallery Page >>

We are a part of the D.E.E.P Program

DEEP is a program (Developing Environments of Enquiry in Poole) that is focused on developing children’s thinking and creativity through encouraging adults to consistently create environments of enquiry for children , initially, through using unfamiliar outdoor localities, to nurture and promote children’s creativity, critical thinking and all areas of their learning.

Listening and discussion is the dominant idea in developing our practice. Before offering, educators need first to be able to listen, in order to see and understand children’s abilities and encourage their questions.

The dual nature of DEEP is to encourage the children’s learning through nature and also for early years educators to deeply consider children’s ideas and to plan and organize activities with this in mind – Responsive Planning – redefining how we respond to the children’s ideas.

Children are encouraged to challenge themselves, try new activities and to judge risk for themselves. This type of planning promotes collaborative thinking between adults and children as independent learners.
