Another exciting, busy month for Big Comet’s during June as we completed our ‘Story Tales’ topic before beginning our new topic of ‘Let’s Go Around the World’.

At the beginning of the month we took part in the Pyjamarama fundraiser for the Book Trust. Both the children and adults joined in, wearing their PJ’s and onsies, raising money to provide more children with a bedtime story. During this event we had lots of fun using activity sheets, eating cake, as well as getting our faces painted; from dinosaurs to Spiderman, it was a good laugh!

In Big Comet’s, we were fortunate enough to be visited by Lucy the Librarian. During the visits, Lucy read us all a story about a princess and a dragon, using puppets to help act out the story. After singing some songs, each of us were given a very special book to take home with us, which we were all so excited about.

June has been a month full of celebrations as we spoke about different cultures and festivals. We celebrated Eid el Fatir by making and decorating cards that we took home.

Our Big Comet’s Father’s Day Party was a great success and we all had so much fun! We played ‘Pin the Moustache on the Daddy’ which made us all giggle, as well as eating yummy BBQ styled food and giving our Daddy’s the crafts that we had worked very hard on. The Daddy’s even had some beers Thank you to all the Daddy’s who were able to make the party.

Although the weather this month has been uncertain, that hasn’t stopped us from transforming our garden! The grownups worked hard to digging and composting but we worked harder as we supervised them! Now we have a set digging area, water table, sand tray as well as beans, tomatoes, grass and seeds growing. We all help to water the plants and are very proud with how it is coming along.

As we come to the end of the month, we have begun our new topic of ‘Let’s Go Around the World’. This topic has been chosen due to our interests in holidays, dancing, water play, musical instruments, building and more. We are extending these interests as we look at these things in different places; we are focusing on a continent per week. This has spurred lots of craft during our first week as we explore Africa. Our lions, African houses, bracelets and necklaces can be seen displayed in our room, so come and have a look!

Everyone in Big Comet’s would like to say a HUGE well done to Porter, Barney and Emir for achieving the Star of the Week and taking Kristina Bear home, as well as Kai and Thea who were awarded the Good Friend Certificate!

What a fabulous month we have had – well done Big Comets!
