Big Comets – March 19

WOW! What a busy month we had in Big Comets!

During March we have been exploring ‘Nature’ as our topic and we have been using natural flowers to paint, natural leaves to make a collage, painting pine cones, gardening, exploring our garden and much, much more!

Earlier in the month we celebrated ‘Pancake Day’, where everyone enjoyed making their own pancake decorations, with fresh fruit, sprinkles and lots of different sauces. We celebrated ‘World Book Day’ where we dressed up as characters from Beatrix Potter books, and St. Patrick Day where we made our lucky charm bracelet and shamrock stencils.

The Big Comets have been fundraising for Comic Relief, and we had an amazing week full of activities from balloon popping, a cinema afternoon, tea bag painting, cake auctions and the famous baking sale. The children had great fun taking part in this important event. We have also fundraised for Brain Tumour Research by wearing special hats to nursery. The children and parents crafted and made their own personalized hat for our ‘Wear a Hat Day’. It was a must! Our winners were Kai in first place, Cerys in second place and Eva in third place! Congratulations to all the winners and thank you to all the other participants!

As the weather has been changing, and the sun has been out, we have enjoyed our outdoors learning through the sand tray, water play, construction and white board activities. Indoors we have been making Playdough, playing instruments, dancing and learning new group games.

It wouldn’t be March without celebrating Mother’s Day and thanking all our mummies for their love and hard work. The Big comets have been planting, making a card, a glittery bracelet and a yummy heart shaped biscuit, all especially for our mummies. We held an amazing Mother’s Day Brunch which was a success, with lots of mummies coming in to do some crafts with their child, play outdoors and the enjoy a wonderful brunch party made by Tracey – our amazing chef!

This month we would like to say a big well done to Sam, Eva and Cerys for being the ‘Friends of the Week’ and to Noah, Robin and to Aidan for being the ‘Star of the Week!’ Also a big well done to Annabelle and Isla for getting their 10th stamp, for being amazing in lots of different ways. Keep up your amazing work!
