Comets 18mths-3yrs.

At 19 months your child is now ready for some serious fun! Our Little Comets room is perfectly designed to facilitate this. Everything is at hand to introduce them to introduce them to a wide range of activities including music and movement, language, role play, colours, painting, cutting and sticking, baking, building and knocking down!

The Little Comets have their own outside play area with a large outdoor cabin which enables us to stay warm in the winter and out of the sun in the summer. The cabin is an excellent learning resource with a special book balcony which the children love, it enables a wider range of activities to take place during our outdoor play and on nice days up to 90% of the time can be spent outside.

In the Little Comets room our carers are particularly skilled at encouraging children and developing their confidence through a wide range of activities which are constructed to challenge children in small achievable steps.

Extra activities are available for our Little Comets, these include: Jo Jingles – music and movement, Swimming lessons, gymnastics and trampolining. These activities are available at a small charge and really help with the children’s co-ordination, listening skills and most importantly their self esteem. See our Activities page for more details.

By this stage the children are becoming more independent, the children now choose whether they want to be inside or out (freeflow). They have their own play area which is safety surfaced with a garden where they grow fruit and vegetables to eat at snack time. They also have access to a large cabin which has role play areas set up for them, which is a great learning tool. Our ethos is that anything we do inside we can do outside in fair weather. Consequently the children can be outside for most of the time they are in nursery, when we are lucky enough to have good weather the children will often choose to have snack and lunchtimes outside. At this stage we begin to introduce children to letters and numbers and nature and science.

The Big Comets have access to the Sonic Phonic room which has lots of books for them to use and two computers to learn through, the children really love this area. In this room the teachers are particularly skilled in engaging the children and providing a wide range of activities which are interesting and meet every child’s needs. This is made easier by the small age band of 9 months which enables them to differentiate all activities to be appropriate.
