BIG COMETS FEBRUARY 2016

Big Comets have been busy making a sound wall in the garden, using pots and pans to make different sounds.

We have also made big bubbles in the garden in our new tray, using a hula hoop and lots and lots of bubbles after reading Barry the Fish with fingers because puffy blows the best bubbles.

ROCKETS FEBRUARY 2016

The Rockets made a rocket.

Several of the children in Rockets had been telling us some amazing facts that they already knew about space and the planets. Our flexible curriculum planning allows us to respond to the children’s current interests and fascinations by developing projects to extend and develop their knowledge and understanding...

TWINKLES FEBRUARY 2016

This month in Twinkles we have been concentrating very hard and learning about the Farm.

Some of us have got really stuck in with lots of art work. We have created wonderful pictures of farm animals and we have even created a box for our farm animals to live! It’s been so much fun. Whilst we were having fun we were learning how to make marks on the paper and enjoy the sensory experience of the paint, glue and different materials on our hands.....

Thank you to all of you that took part in the competition, it really was a hard decision to make. First Aid Course

Little Stars 12 hour Paediatric First aid course. On two Saturday's in January the Little Stars and Superstars workforce came to the nursery to complete a 12 hour Paediatric first aid certificate. As of September according to Ofsted regulations, this certificate must be held by practitioners in order to work with children Although company policy has always been that our employee's hold this anyway. We covered all aspects of Paediatric first aid from allergies, bandaging, burn's, choking to CPR. We can assure you that no children (or staff) were harmed in the training process.....the photographs show great team spirit, lots of fun was had, whilst learning incredibly important skills.

New Recruits

We are pleased to welcome Kelly, Karalina and Lisa to the team here at Little Stars. They will be bringing all of their knowledge and experience to the setting. Kelly is our Deputy - Supervisor in Little Comets, where Karalina will be joining her as part of the team. Lisa will be joining the pre-school team in Rockets alongside Charlotte who is returning from maternity leave. Parents with children at Courthill school may well recognise Charlotte from her time at Superstars there.

Christmas Parties

All children are welcome to come in their best Christmas attire. There will be lots of fun, games, bubbles and excitement for all involved. If your child attends a regular session on those days they will automatically attend the party. If you would like to bring them in for the party at no extra charge you are very welcome to but you must attend with them. Our Christmas parties are a great time to meet other parents and see some of the things that your children get up to when they are here.

If you go down to the woods today….

Rockets and Big Comets took a trip to have fun and explore in Branksome Woods this term.

Taking a walk through the woods and up to the Library at Canford Cliffs. We are now very lucky to have a weekly story time slot at the library which the children love and gain so much from.

It’s amazing seeing the children out of the nursery environment and the fun we have……looking at the tree’s, climbing on logs, watching slugs crawl over wellies, looking out to sea.

These trips are something that we plan to continue each term on different days of the week so that we can include as many children as possible in this experience.

We Welcome New Staff

Over the last few months we welcomed several new members of staff to the Little Stars Team. Firstly Stephanie who is primarily the Supervisor in the Rockets, our pre-school group. With many years experience as a Supervisor with this age group she has some creative and fun ways to extend the children's learning. Please see more about Stephanie and her role on the about us staff page. We have also welcomed Abi and Kelly to the Little Comets room. Kelly has relocated to Poole from the midlands and we are very lucky to have her join our team with loads of new ideas and a fabulous energy. Abi has joined us from a more local nursery and brings with her a fun sense of humor which the children love and her own brand of very gentle caring ways.

Harry Paye Day Parade

Children from throughout the setting joined in the annual parade on Poole Quay, celebrating all things Pirate! With around 40 children (and some of the grown ups) dressed as a motley crew they shouted and chanted their way around the old town area. A "Pirate Week" followed at Nursery where Sea shanties were sang, maps followed to find treasure and planks balanced on. Pirate tunnels were tracked and tropical fruits tasted.
