This month has been very exciting; the Rockets have had lots of lovely visits, including one from the police where we got to see the bright blue lights and the noisy siren on their police car! A dentist also visited and we brushed our teeth while listening to the song ‘Baby Shark’ with our new toothbrushes, and Heather from ZooLab, who brought in lots of different animals. We spoke about what happens to these animals at different times of the year, and also learnt a new word ‘hibernate’.

The Rockets visited Pennant House, a residential care home just across the road from Little Stars before Easter where our older friends enjoyed making Easter nests with us, colouring in and some singing!

We learnt lots about spring and the animals that appear in spring time, we enjoyed looking at the flowers such as daffodils that come out and drawing them, also planting our own beans, these will be left at nursery and watered to watch the growth and changes.

We thoroughly enjoyed the Easter egg hunts and learnt positional language of where the eggs are in the hunt. We did bunny sack races where we looked at the numbers of coming first second, third and fourth!

We also started our new theme which is ‘space’ we have learnt a lot about the different planets, who lives in space and enjoyed using our computer skills to find our houses on Google earth! We had fun trying to put the planets in order ourselves.

We have enjoyed lots of craft activities such as designing our own planets and aliens, marbling planets, rocket names and scissor skills.

While learning lots of new things about space we have also been concentrating on school readiness. We have been practicing writing our names, sounding out our names and concentrating on our first sounding letter in our name. We hope everyone got their first choice of school!
